About Midnight Sun Gun Dog Association

Midnight Sun Gun Dog Association (MSGDA) was established in 1989. Our club is a member of the The North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA) We are dedicated to hunters and their hunting retrievers. Simply stated, we want to help hunters develop better hunting dogs through training and testing.

The initial gundog stake was held in 1983 and licensed NAHRA field tests were first conducted in Alaska in 1986 by the Alaska Retriever Club. MSGDA was organized to provide hunters the continued opportunity to participate in these popular retriever field events.

MSGDA encourages family involvement in all our retriever events. We strongly promote participation of junior handlers and senior handlers.

Currently, we have over 100 members throughout Alaska. Over 200 dogs participated in our 2019 field and hunt tests.

This site is intended to offer timely and reliable information to Alaskans that own or train hunting retrievers.
